Interstate gangster shot dead in encounter, aide arrested
New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) Police today gunned down an interstate gangster, wanted in 36 cases of murder, attempt to murder, attack on police and dacoity, in Khajoori Khas area of North-East Delhi and arrested one of his associates.
Furkan alias Pandit was shot dead in an encounter at about 0530 hrs today near Dhalan Khajoori on Khajoori Pushta Road in trans-Yamuna area while he was riding a motorcycle, said DCP (Special Cell) Alok Kumar.
The accused, who had 36 cases, including eleven in Delhi against him, was killed in retaliatory fire while trying to escape, he said.
''A .38 revolver was recovered from him.'' Earlier, at about 0400 hrs his associate Farooq was arrested by the surveillance team from Old Mustafabad following a tip-off, said the DCP.
''A .32 bore pistol, a country-made pistol and some cartridges were recovered from his possession.'' He had 44 cases against him, including that of murder, attempt to murder, attack on police and dacoity, Mr Kumar added.
