Following a year-long observation, NCMRWF has recently announced the performance report at the annual review meeting of G.B.Panth Agricultural University, Nainital.

Altogether 110 centres of 127 agroclimatic zone across the country have been working on Agrometeorological Advisory in ICAR to the farmers, sources said.

Talking to sources Joint Director ICAR, NE Hill Region, Prof N.P. Singh said, ''Weather forecasting is the need of the hour to avoid crop losses due to weather vagaries, as radiation, temperature, atmospheric moisture, clouds, precipitation govern the productivity of crops to a large extent and we are advising farmers in precise form in the service''.

Most of the farmers of NE states are still practicing agricultural operations based on local myths and beliefs and agromet advisory is now in a position to cater to the needs of the farming community in the area of weather related agro-advisories, Prof Singh added.
