GOC 4 Corps reviews security

Guwahati, Jan 19 (UNI) The GOC 4 Corps Lt Gen R K Chhabra, who is the operational head of the counter-insurgency unified command in Assam, today chaired a security review meeting with top Army officials, representatives of Assam Police, Arunachal Pradesh police, Meghalaya Police, the CRPF and the BSF at the Narangi Army base here, according to a Defence source.

The meeting was held to review the current operational situation after the killing of Hindi-speaking people in Upper Assam areas and also the call given by the banned ULFA for boycott of the Republic Day celebrations in the state on January 26 next.

The meeting also reviewed the arrangements made for review of the security of participants during National Games.

The participants deliberated on the current modus operandi of the terrorists and worked out a strategy and the methodology of countering it to ensure peaceful to holding the National Games here.
