Bhuj, Jan 19 (UNI) Authorities have seized a huge stock of edible oil of different varieties worth Rs 19.43 crores from an unregistered oil refinery at Mithirohar village near Gandhidham here.

Kutch district collector Mr Dhananjay Dwivedi today pointed out that this was a record seizure in the district.

Investigations revealed that the firm in question, Ruchi Soya Industries, was engaged in importing edible oils through the Kandla port, refining them and then selling them under different brand names, when infact they had no license to either refine nor sell oil, officials disclosed.

The firm is believed to be associated with a big industrial house in north India and used to allegedly sell oil of different varieties like palmolein, soyabean, refined mustard oil etc.

The investigating team has also seized 44 packing labels from the refinery, officials added.
