DPCC Chief Rambabu Sharma lauds achievements by Cong in last 5 years
New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) Raising pitch for the forthcoming polls for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, senior leaders of the ruling Congress, including Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Rambabu Sharma today lauded the commendable work done by the MCD in various areas of development during its five year tenure.
Laying the foundation stone for five civic projects at Majlis Park (Adarsh Nagar) situated in North Delhi area, DPCC Chief Rambabu Sharma said during the last five years the Congress had fulfilled all its promises made during the last polls of the corporation.
He said that during the last five years, MCD did commendable development works which include implementation of Unit Areas Method, E-governance, E-tendering etc.
''These works have brought transparency in the functioning of the MCD besides making it citizen-friendly,''Mr Sharma said.
Privatisation of transportation of garbage was the most notable example of development, he said. Also, he expressed hope that with the implementation of the new building bye-laws, the process of sanctioning of building plans would be rationalised and simplified.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the MCD Standing Committee Jai Kishan Sharma put forth the unit area method of property tax as a commendable achievement of the Congress.
''The Unit Area System is not only being praised in India but also in the other countries of the World,''he added.
As achievements of the Congress Government, he also mentioned the fact that with the coming of the new Master Plan, 40 lakh people of Delhi living in unauthorised colonies would be benefited.
Speaking on the occasion, Leader of the MCD house Jitender Kochar said an achievement of the MCD had been that no MCD school is being run in tents except one school, the matter of which is subjudice.
These projects inaugurated by Mr Sharma, which will cost Rs 7.25 crores to the MCD, include a swimming pool, a gym equipped with sauna and steam bath, a community hall, a dispensary at Indira Nagar and a primary school building at village Bhadola.
