DDA finalises proposals, clears way for 2021 MP notification

New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) Decks have been cleared for the notification of the 2021 Delhi Master Plan by the Urban Development Ministry to provide relief to the common man and traders from sealing and demolition with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) tonight finalising the proposals of the MPD 2021.

Sources said the MPD 2021 proposals, finalised by the DDA after a marathon meeting lasting nearly six hours, provide for regularising all unauthorised and unauthorised regularised colonies.

It, thus, satisfies the longstanding demand of MLAs of the Delhi Legislative Assembly as well as MCD Councillors to bring substantial relief for the common man and traders. It also entrusts the task of development in these colonies on the local bodies.

The MPD 2021 proposals also provide for running commercial activities in basements in various areas, allowing schools and nursing homes to operate in residential areas and commercial activities in LIG and Janta flats in DDA colonies.

The proposals also give relief from sealing to units in buildings on more than 15sqm area.

Way has also been paved for designating and notifying areas other than the 2183 roads already designated as commercial/mixed use roads and also included in the Master Plan 2021.

Sources said in preparing the final proposals of the 2021 Master Plan, efforts have been made to accommodate as many suggestions, given by MLAs and Delhi government, as possible so that the maximum people could be benefited as had been assured by Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken and Delhi acting Lt Governor A R Kidwai in the past few days.

The finalisation of the proposals by the DDA paves way for its notification by the Centre before January 31 as assured by Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and Mr Maken time and again.

The proposals will now be sent to the Urban Development Ministry, which will give its advise on them before final notification of the Plan.
