Chatterjee unveils portal after him

Kolkata, Jan 19 (UNI) Acclaimed actor Soumitra Chatterjee today launched www.soumitralive.com, a portal dedicated to him for his contributions to Indian cinema.

Designed by Banglalive.com, for the past few months, the company treated it as a prestigious project dedicated to one of the greatest actors the silver screen has ever seen.

Speaking on the occasion company spokesman said, "the idea came to us while conferring the Banglalive Legendary Award to Mr Soumitra Chatterjee in September last. We noted with anguish the pitiful state of web resources on him available on the net." "Since then we have been working towards preparing this virtual tribute to this man for all seasons. Today, on the occasion of Mr Chatterjee's 73rd birthday, we can proudly proclaim that www.soumitralive.com has arrived to fill up the vaccum," he said.

The sections in the portal are The Man: A detailed biography of Soumitra, the man; divided into several sub-sections; with pictures and appropriate captions, His Career: A detailed filmography and a listing of his plays and books of poetry and other writings; with covers of his books, film booklets, etc, Ray Connection: A special section on Satyajit Ray and Soumitira Chatterjee. Apart from films, it concentrates on Soumitra Chatterjee as Apu and Feluda.

The other sections are nostalgia, bulletins and contributors.
