Charge-sheeted MP Minister resigns

Bhopal, Jan 19 (UNI) In the wake of filing of charge-sheet in a corruption case relating to irregularities in the recruitment of 'Shikshakarmis' in Satna district in 1998, Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Water Resources and Animal Husbandry Jugal Kishore Bagri today resigned from the cabinet on ''moral grounds''.

The resignation letter, which was forwarded by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan with his recommendation after it was personally handed over by Mr Bagri himself, has been accepted by Governor Balram Jakhar, official sources said.

''I am innocent. I have been framed in the case as I have no role in the recruitment. I was only ex-officio secretary of Satna district panchayat by virtue of being a legislator'', Mr Bagri told UNI.

''I have resigned on moral grounds after the charge-sheet was filed by the Lokayukta police in the court yesterday'', he added.
