Bomb blast in Guwahati, 30 injured

Guwahati, Jan 19 (UNI) A powerful bomb ripped apart the Adabari area of the Guwahati this evening injuring more than 30 people, many of them critically.

The incident occurred at 1820 hours in the Anand Nagar area of the Adabari Tini Ali of the city during the busy market hours with hundreds of people engaged in plying their trade.

The injured were shifted to the Railway Hospital and Guwahati Medical College hospital.

Details are awaited as the senior police officials have rushed to the spot.

In yet other bomb blast on a crude oil pipe line near Lakwa of Sibsagar district 14 houses were completely destroyed as the pipe line caught fire. Some shops were also damaged.

Both the incidents were carried out by the ULFA, police source said.

Meanwhile in Upper Asom, the army had two major successes. They caught top ULFA militants Dhruva Kuzru from Dibrugarh. He was the mastermind behind the Longsoal killing where 13 Bihari persons were killed.

The army also recovered large quantity of arms which included 2 kilogram of TNT, 2 IED, 2 bombs, 17 detonator from Maorani village near Digboi.
