Australia offers expertise for Rajasthan industries
Jaipur, Jan 19 (UNI) Australia has offered to provide competitive solutions and expertise in Rajasthan.
''Australia can provide expertise and capabilities across sectors and on the value addition it can offer in enhancing the competitiveness to industries in Rajasthan,'' Mike Moignard, Senior Trade Commissioner, South Asia, Australian Trade Commission said while addressing a session jointly organised by Austrade and Confederation of Indian Industry here.
Mr Moignard added that Australia can provide competitive solutions and expertise in the sectors that are traditional strongholds of businesses in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan is a leader in the minerals industry and in gems and jewellery and these are the areas where Australian expertise and Rajasthan's acumen can join hands. Australia can offer sophisticated technology and expertise for the mining and marble industry in Rajasthan, he added.
Earlier Shripal Choudhari, Chairman, CII Rajasthan State Council said that Australia's trade with India is focused in areas where it has either a traditional or a growing comparative advantage.
Indian imports from Australia are confined to a smaller range of mainly primary commodities such as coal (coking), wool, copper and concentrates, silver and non-ferrous metal scrap.
India is Australia's third largest market for coking coal. The market in thermal coal also offers significant potential, as does the market for LNG exports. The development of technical cooperation, and intensive public and private sector dialogue, make this a highly dynamic link between the two countries.
Vikram Golcha, Past Chairman, CII Rajasthan State Council while wrapping up the session, requested Mr Moignard to facilitate for increased coordination among national governments to address most of the challenges so as to explore the potential of bilateral business ties to the maximum.
The session was well attended by more than 70 delegates from industry.
