Atma Ram murder case: Delhi HC admits Sharda Jains appeal

New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) The Delhi High Court admitted today the petitions of Sharda Jain and her brother Raj Kumar challenging the sentences of life imprisonment awarded to them for murdering Congress councillor Atma Ram Gupta.

Dismissing an application for suspension of the sentence, a division bench of Justice Manmohan Sarin and Justice S L Bhayana directed the trial court to submit the records related to the case.

Neither of the convicts had pressed for bail. A Delhi court had sentenced former Keshavpuram Councillor Sharda Jain, her brother and four others to life imprisonment in the murder case on December 22..

The court had also sentenced three Uttar Pradesh policemen to three years imprisonment each for destroying the evidence in the case.
