Army top brass review Asom situation

Guwahati, Jan 19 (UNI) The Army top brass operating in Asom had a crucial meeting at Narengi base of the army today to review the situation.

Army spokesperson Lt Col Narendra Singh said a meeting of the operational group under the mandate of the unified command was held at Narangi in Guwahati.

The meeting was chaired by GOC 4 Corps Lt Gen R K Chhabra and attended by top level Army officers, representatives of Arunachal Pradesh Police, Meghalaya Police, CRPF, BSF and Asom Police.

The meeting was held to review the current operational situation after the killing of Hindi-speaking people in Upper Asom and also the boycott call given by ULFA for Republic day celebration.

The meeting also reviewed the security of participants during the National Games.

The participants deliberatd on the current modus operandi of terrorists and worked out strategy and methodology of countering it to ensure peace to make the environment conducive for holding the games.
