AIADMK MLA's daughter produced in court
Chennai, Jan 19 (UNI) AIADMK MLA L Ravichandran's daughter R Kalaivani was today produced before Madras High Court in connection with a Habeas Corpus petition to hand her over to her parent's custody.
A Division Bench comprising Mr Justice P K Misra and Mr Justice K Mohan Ram, before whom Kalaivani was produced by her parents, closed the HCP filed by her father Ravichandran, after recording her submission that she would like to stay with her parents.
The Bench said the HCP had been filed by Kalaivani's father when she went missing. She was presently three months short of 18. The detenu, who was present in the court, stated she had voluntarily gone with one P Sivakumar, working under Ravichandran. She further stated she would now like to stay with her parents. Recording the submissions, the HCP was closed, the bench added.
Earlier, the detenu was produced before a Magistrate in Salem and was allowed to go with her parents.
According to the petitioner, the girl, who was studying first year B.Sc Computer Science in the Vysia college in Salem, did not return home on November 25, 2006. The same day, Sivakumar, who frequently visited Ravichandran's party office and did work given to him, had absconded with Rs 10,000 kept in the party office.
He and his relatives searched for Kalaivani but were unable to find her. He suspected she was kidnapped by Sivakumar and so gave a police complaint. Despite representations to the authorities, police to get his daughter released from the accused. Hence the HCP.
