AI suspends employee for Nusli Wadia misdeed

Mumbai, Jan 19 (UNI) The Air India has suspended an employee for dereliction of duty in connection with the finding of a pistol and some cartridges in the baggage of Bombay Dyeing chairman Nusli Wadia.

''We have taken serious view of this incident, and, based on initial inquiries, the person who was in charge of handling the X-ray of the baggage has been suspended,'' an Air India press here today said.

''We are investigating the matter further and strict action will be taken against any other person who is found guilty,'' the release added.

An ivory-handled pistol was seized by the Dubai airport security personnel from Mr Wadia's baggage on January 13. The weapon had gone undetected during the Air India checks here.
