Chatra, Jharkhand, Jan 19 (UNI) At least 20 people were injured in a clash with the police, when the displaced agitators staged a dharna defying prohibitory orders against the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) over their nine-point demand here today.

Police said the Visthapit Yuva Vikas Morcha (YVM) organised a five-day protest from today after the NTPC lodged a complaint with Tandwa police station here against seven morcha leaders last week.

The administration imposed prohibitory orders as a preventive measure as it failed to solve the problem of the agrieved leaders yesterday.

The CRPF personnel had to resort to lathicharge to disperse the agitating Morcha members. Soon after, a furious local mob gathered at the spot and started pelting stones at the forces, forcing the latter to retaliate which injured about 20 people.

However, later the NTPC and morcha leaders, along with the district administration held a discussion to sort out the matter.

The morcha had been demanding proper rehabilitation for the people displaced following the NTPC's proposed 2000 MW plant.
