Youth sentenced to 19 months rigorous imprisonment

Mumbai, Jan 18 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a person to 19 months rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping a minor girl from the Sion-Koliwada area in the metropolis in 2005.

Additional Sessions Judge M S Keny also slapped a fine of Rs 500 on Vijay Kandu Khare or in default undergo one month's simple imprisonment.

According to a complaint lodged by the 14-year old victim's father with Antop Hill Police station, his daughter was missing from his house since March 24, 2005 afternoon.

Later, the family came to know that Vijay, who was a regular visitor of their neighbour, was also missing and informed the police about it.

On the basis of the report, police apprehended the accused from his house at Jalgaon after 45 days.

Police arrested Vijay under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and brought him to Mumbai.

However, the girl died on July 26, 2005 following a snake bite.
