VAO held for attacking DMK functionary

Chennai, Jan 18 (UNI) The Village Administrative Officer (VAO)of the Mettur Town was arrested by the police after he attacked a ruling DMK functionary, in an inebriated condition, last night.

According to reports received by the police headquarters here today, the incident occurred at around 2000 hrs last night when VAO Kalaikovan, who reportedly had previous enmity with Murugan, attacked him and warned him of dire consequences.

Following a complaint from Murugan, police arrested the VAO. He was later remanded in judicial custody.
