UP: BJP sees electoral stunt behind Cong withdrawal
New Delhi, Jan 18: The BJP today described the Congress party'swithdrawal of support to the Samajwadi Party government in UttarPradesh on the eve of state assembly polls as a ''cheap political stuntand a drama''.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the withdrawal of support bythe Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal at this point of time was only''notional and meaningless'' unless the state was brought under thePresident's rule as no fair election was possible as long was SP was inpower in the state.
He said the tacit understanding between the Congress and theSamajwadi Party was too well known and they derived and extendedsupport to each other for sustaining themselves in power be it in UttarPradesh or in Delhi, he said.
Now, on the eve of elections, the Congress party's withdrawalwould have no conviction among the people who would treat it as aCongress gimmick only, he said.
