Amritsar, Jan 18 (UNI) A youth today committed suicide by hanging in Chogavan village of this district, expressing his last wish that the government which had failed to provide him with a job, should at least give his younger brother employment after his death, police today said.

The unemployed Arjun Kumar, 25, who had passed plus two examination had apparently become frustrated, as in spite of numerous visits to the officials and leaders, he failed to get a job.

A torch and pieces OF coal were recovered from near the Jamun tree where he was reported to have committed suicide.

The walls in the Block Development Office bore scribbles, allegedly written by Arjun with coal, that the failure of the government to provide him job had driven him to commit suicide, SSP Lok Nath told UNI.

''Now give a job to my younger brother Rinku. My elder brother Vijay Kumar was given a job in the Block office but was sacked aftrer three months. Sukhwinder Sarkaria, Congress candidate from Raja Sansi constituency, had also failed to keep his promise of a job to me though I met him several times,'' the note said.

Even though the police station was just across, it was not informed and ''certain people'' convinced the family of the deceased to cremate the body without the post mortem, the SSP said.

However, on coming to know of the incident, the police had registered a report and photographed the writing on wall and the scene of the crime.
