Police guns down history-sheeter in Uttar Pradesh

Agra, Jan 18 (UNI) Police today gunned down a history-sheeter, carrying a reward of Rs 2,500 on his head, in an encounter under Sikandara area here today.

The slain criminal was identified as Mahendra Prajapati. He had about two dozen cases of heinous crimes, including murder, loot and extortion registered against him.

On a tip-off that some miscreants were planning a crime, cops raided the rear of an establishment -- Maruti Gas Godown -- and challenged them.

However, the criminals, trying to flee allegedly fired at the police team. In the ensuing encounter, Prajapati was gunned down.
