PM Condoles the death of L M Thapar

New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today mourned the death of veteran industrialist Lalit Mohan Thapar, recalling his seminal contribution for the growth of Indian industry and to society.

In a letter to his family, Dr Singh expressed grief at his passing away and said the doyn of Indian industries played a key role for the progress and prosparity of the nation.

Above all, the Prime Minister said Mr Thapar was a ''dear personal friend'' and added that he had fond memories of his interaction with him.

''On this sad occasion, I offer my sympathy and condolences,'' Dr Singh said.

''May God bless you with fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

I pray that the departed soul rest in peace,'' the Prime Minister said in a letter to the family.
