Mumbai, Jan 18 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today said it was open to a post-civic poll alliance with Congress if the situation demanded.

The NCP was reacting to the recent statement by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Prabha Rau that a Congress-NCP post poll alliance was possible.

NCP spokesman Madan Bafna, while appreciating Ms Rau's statement, said the latter was a senior and experienced leader as opposed to Mumbai Congress president Gurudas Kamat who has been repeatedly criticising the NCP.

''Ms Rau is aware of the reality unlike Mr Kamat who repeatedly says that NCP has no strength, especially in Mumbai,'' Mr Bafna said and added that his party has decided not to comment on the criticism against his party made by others.

He said his party will focus on issues like urban planning, corruption-free administration, environmental concerns, and emerge successful at the hustings.
