New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) Motor Accident Claim Tribunal today issued notice to Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police to ensure the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police (Meerut) and Station House Office of Kankarkhera Police Station Meerut in court on February 15.

Additional Sessions Judge Gurdip Singh Saini directed the DGP to make sure that the SSP and the SHO, against whom the court also issued Non-Bailable Warrant, were present in court that day.

The order came as both police officials had failed to appear before the court despite many summons.

The court sought their presence in connection with an accident case, compensation claim for which was pending with the tribunal, along with First Information Report and other relevant documents.

Family members of an Non-Resident Indian from France had sought compensation from an insurance firm here, after the NRI hired a taxi from the capital to go Rishikesh and met with an accident near Meerut in 1999. The NRI later died.
