Lawyers beat up canteen manager

Bhopal, Jan 18 (UNI) A case was registered against a lawyer and his associates after they allegedly assaulted the District Court's canteen manager and damaged the eatery today, the police said.

Manager Mahendra Singh blamed Advocate Ajit Singh and more than a dozen other lawyers for the incident. A dispute over an order for tea aggravated leading to the clash.

Following a complaint by District and Sessions Judge Renu Sharma, Maharana Pratap Nagar Station House Officer Rajaram Sahu rushed to the premises. Additional Superintendent of Police G K Pathak confirmed that a first information report was registered.

''The matter has been settled at the behest of the District Judge who reached the scene after learning of the skirmish,'' claimed District Bar Association President Vijay Chaudhry who also dashed to the spot.
