Landmine defused in Purulia

Purulia, Jan 18 (UNI) A landmine recovered by the police last evening from Ghagra village in West Bengal's Purulia district was defused by the bomb disposal squad today.

Police said the mine, kept in the container at Pundagh Road, was first located by the locals. A police team had rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

They also called the bomb disposal squad which arrived today and defused the mine after hours of effort, sources said.

Police was carrying out combing operations in the neighbouring areas and carrying out investigations.

No militant group had yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
