Italian tourist dies in Leh monastery

Srinagar, Jan 18 (UNI) An Italian, who had come to Ladakh along with other fellow countrymen on adventure tourism, suffered a fatal fall in the Spituk Monastery in Leh district today.

Police said the Italian, Valenziano Lodvica, had reached Ladakh along with 20 other fellow countrymen on adventure tourism and were to participate in a Leh-Zanskar ice walking mission.

The 64-year-old Italian fell down while taking photographs from the rooftop of the Spituk Monastery, they said, adding he received fatal injuries due to the fall.

Police said the Italian tourist was immediately rushed to the Sonam Narboo Hospital at Leh where he succumbed to wounds.

Lodvica had gone to see a fair at Spituk, about four km from Leh.
