Indo-Pak pact on N-accidents risk reduction soon
New Delhi, Jan 18: India and Pakistan will sign next month anagreement on reducing the risk from accidents relating to nuclearweapons, it was officially announced here today.
The agreement on''Reducing the Risk from Accidents Relating to Nuclear Weapons'' willbe signed by the two neighbours during the forthcoming visit here ofPakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri in February for theIndo-Pak Joint Commission Meeting.
The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting here of theCabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister ManmohanSingh, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told mediapersonsshortly thereafter.
The exact dates for Mr Kasuri's visit were ''being worked out'' through diplomatic channels.
Minister Mukherjee said the issue had been under discussion withPakistan ''for quite some time and now the two countries are ready tosign it''.
The two countries had reached an understanding on signing theagreement in November last during the Foreign Secretary-level talkshere but awaited Cabinet approval.
