New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) The government today said it will bring down the cost of roaming charges and provide internet railway ticketing through post offices in the rural areas in the next three-four months.

''The three broadband services, MTNL, BSNL and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) unitedly will bring down the prices of the internet as well as the domestic roaming charges and will also make internet railway ticketing possible in the rural areas through post offices, to make cheaper and convenient services to the peple,'' said Minister of Communications and IT Dayanidhi Maran here.

The minister was speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing India Digital Summit 2007, organised by industry chamber CII.

He said the Railway ministry has already agreed for the proposal. ''Only the signing of the agreement is left, which will be done in a few days,'' IT ministry sources said.

The main purpose of hosting the three servers together is to generate traffic within the country instead of generating it from the other countries, he said.

Mr Maran said, the main idea behind this purpose is to make servers faster, cheaper and convenient to the local people even at the Gram Panchayat level.
