EB seize 54 kg ganja, destroy more than 2 lakh plants
Agartala, Jan 18 (UNI) The Enforcement Branch (EB) of the Tripura police seized more than 54 kg of dry ganja and destroyed more than two lakh plants in the state during the last three months.
Two persons were arrested in this connection. The anti ganja drive ended in the middle of this month.
Police today said the EB personnel organised special drive against ganja cultivation and its production, seized 19 kg dry opium and destroyed more than one lakh plants in various parts under Melaghar police station area in Sonamura sub-division of West District.
In the second phase of its drive, the EB personnel destroyed more than one lakh ganja plants under Bishalgarh sub-division in the west district and registered five cases while in third phase thousands of opium plants cultivated illegally under Sonamura were destroyed.
The personnel, led by the SDPO, Sanntirbazar, under South District conducted raid and recovered about 35 kg dry ganja from Takma Paticherri area.
