Pasighat, Jan 18: The two-day sectoral meeting of the DoNER ministry resolves to frame a clear and consistent power policy for development of power sector in the North Eastern states.

The resolutions with nomenclature 'Pasighat proclamation' taken last night would serve as a manifesto for all NE states with respect to the power sector, Union DoNER Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said in the meeting.

The meeting was held to review power generation projects including transmission, distribution and rural electrification under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyuti Karan Yojana (RGGVY) scheme in NE region.

The meeting further said the most important element of the proposed policy would be to reach the benefits of power available to the NE region.

The other priorities included growth and diversification of demands for power in NE, to export power from the region to other states.

The proclamation further stressed on development of small hydro power programme (SHP), which should be supplemented by other sources like biomass and solar energy.
