CPI(ML)-L demands repeal land acquisition and SEZ policy

Kolkata, Jan 18 (UNI) The CPI(ML)-Liberation demanded the repeal of land acquisition act and scrapping of the SEZ policy and the Indo-US nuclear deal here today.

CPI(ML)-general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya told newspersons that the UPA government's talks about a temporary halt to SEZs and humane acquisition were aimed at pacifying the angry peason and blunting the edge of their resistance.

He said his party would organise human chains across the country to highlight this demand on January 25.

He also demanded that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee tender an unconditional apology for his remarks regarding the role of so-called communal forces in the Nandigram agitation which were an insult to the peasantry as well as the muslim community in the state.

He also said the Chief Miniuter was trying to silence the peasants of Nandigram by invoking the bogey of communalism.

Condemning the state governments decision of arresting six members of CPI(ML)-L fact finding team he said the released members of the team would again visit Nandigram tomorrow along with a team of peasant leaders to intensify the mass agitation for withdrawal of Section 144 CR Pc in Singur.

Referring to the coming Assembly elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand and the UP, he said the CPI(ML)-L would contest in ten seats with an alliance with the Punjab-CPI(M), RSP and the Forward Bloc.

In Uttarakhand, the party would contest eight seats forming an alliance with non-Congress and non-BJP party. The party would contest 40 seats in UP, he added.
