CII signs MoU with EBRD

Bangalore, Jan 18 (UNI) A Memorandum of Understanding between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to further cooperation was signed on the second day of the three-day CII Partnership Summit here today.

The MoU was signed by EBRD President Jean Lemierre and CII Director General S S Mehta.

As per the MoU, to be reviewed after two years, both participants collectively agreed that there was a high potential for synergies from cooperation in a number of areas. EBRD looked for opportunities for lending to and co-investing in suitable projects in the EBRD's countries of operations to promote free market economy and private enterprise to support privatisation, restructuring and better municipal services and financing for small and medium-sized companies.

CII was seeking to identify and explore business opportunities for its members in the EBRD's countries of operation and would be looking to involve EBRD experience and expertise to that end.
