New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) The Delhi BJP today expressed concern over what they called "insult" of landlords who have not got their tenants verified.

In a statement issued here, the BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan said,''landlords who have not got their tenants verified should be let off by a warning at the first instance. It is not proper to insult them by arresting them at the very first instance for not getting their tenants verified.'' Stating that many complaints had been received about police harassing the landlords in the name of verification of tenants, Dr Harshvardhan said,''in the era of computers and internet, it is not proper to insult each and every landlord by calling them to the Police Station. For this purpose, arrangements should be such that the owner of the house may send a simplified verification form with the photo of the tenants to the police station by registered posts which may also contain telephone numbers etc.'' Proposing that police personnel of the station concerned should themselves go to the site for verification to check any anti-social type of tenants, the Delhi BJP chief said, ''tenants living in an honourable way should not be insulted.'' The help of RWAs should also be taken in the work of verification, he suggested.

''Only those landlords should be sent to jail who have rented their place to anti-social elements, criminals or terrorists secretly and have concealed the matter from the Police or have avoided verification deliberately,''he said.
