Bharatiya International to establsh SEZ for leather products
Hyderavad, Jan 18 (UNI) Bhartiya International Limited, New Delhi, a group of experienced entrepreneurs engaged in manufacture and export of leather and leather products, is promoting an exclusive cluster for leather and leather products in Andhra Pradesh.
It signed a MoU today with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish a leather park in Nellore District as an SEZ for making leather and leather products including all kinds of footwear.
The MoU was signed by Bhartiya International Managing Director Snehdeep Aggarwal and state Industries Secretary Ms Y Srilakshmi in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at his camp office on Wednesday, said a press release from the CMO's office.
The company had potential to provide jobs to over 10,000 persons inside the Leather Park within a period of five years.
It would try to locate 10 units in the SEZ. Leading manufacturers including units of the Bhartiya Group, now involved in manufacture and process of leather products, primarily for export, had expressed interest in setting up units.
The company would begin construction within six months from the date of handing over land and obtaining approval.
It would also create requisite social infrastructure necessary to support manufacturing within the SEZ, the CMO said.
It may be recalled that the Centre had identified leather and leather products as a thrust sector for generating employment, especially for the weaker sections.
Bhartiya International, the country's largest manufacturer and exporter of leather apparel for men, women and children, was set up in 1989. It achieved annualised growth rate of over 30 per cent in the last ten years.
