Bangalore 'wife killer' arrested, daughter testifies
New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) The law finally caught up with Mohammad Nazran, accused of killing his wife in Bangalore in the presence of his minor daughter a few day back, whom the police arrested near Lal Qila in Central Delhi after days of evading arrest.
Nazran alias Ashish Malhotra (32) was arrested yesterday evening, along with a country-made pistol and two cartridges, close to the electrical crematorium behind Lal Qila, police said today.
His interrogtion revealed that he knifed his wife to death in Bangalore in the presence of his daughter, after she refused to come back with him to Delhi due to their relationship having gone sour.
The accused told the police that after their 'love marriage', both changed their name to 'calm' their parents who opposed the match on religious ground.
But soon after the marriage, regular tiffs occurred between them due to the girl's outgoing lifestyle and the boy's traditional background, which led to the girl coming back to stay with her parents, said the police.
After some time when the girl's parents migrated to Canada, the girl shifted base to Bangalore along with the daughter. After much persuasion when she refused to return to Delhi, Nazran stabbed her to death and fled from there.
The daughter testified on the murder having been committed by her father, police added.
