Azad govt failed to check corruption in J and K: BJP
Jammu, Jan 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ashok Khajuria today said the Congress-led coalition government has failed totally to check corruption in the state.
Addressing a scooter rally at Akhnoor, 45 km from here, he demanded a thorough probe by an impartial agency into the declarations made by Ministers and MLAs in 2002 and the properly they had acquired so far.
''These people have accumulated huge properties at Srinagar and Jammu but there is no one to check this. Only officials at low ranks are made scapegoats to save big fishes,'' he said.
He said a few days ago when the coalition government was at the brink of collapse, Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad along with Congress leader and Speaker Assembly Tara Chand were addressing a gathering in border town of Khour.
''How unfortunate the Congress and its leaders are for the people of the state can be well judged from the incident of firing by Pakistan troops on that day. This incident took place after about three years of cease-fire, he added.
