Additional 30 textile parks to be developed
New Delhi, Jan 18: With a view to augmenting textile production, as many as 30 Integrated Textile Parks would be developed during the Tenth Five Year Plan.
A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, today gave its approval for increasing the target under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Park.
Accordingly, 30 Integrated Textile Parks would be developed without any change in the existing funding pattern and other parameters, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi told mediapersons after the CCEA meeting.
All the parks would be sanctioned by March 2007 and projects completed during 2008-09, he said.
Mr Dasmunsi said development of additional park would facilitate additional investment, employment generation and increase in textile production.
