31 soldiers decorated with SMs, VSMs by Western Army Command

Jammu, Jan 18 (UNI) Thirty-one Army officer and jawans were decorated for their gallant and distinguished services by Western Command's GOC-in-C Lt Gen Daljeet Singh here today.

At a colourful investiture ceremony held at the 26 'Tiger' Division, Lt Gen Singh presented 24 Sena Medals (SM) and seven Vishist Seva Medals (VSM) to the soldiers, including two posthumously.

Those who received SMs were Brig Raj Kumar Sharma (JAT), Brig (Retd) Gurjit Singh Dhillon (ARMD), Col Basant Kumar Dhingra (AAD), Col Gurvinder Singh Bedi (GUARDS), Lt Col Ajay Kumar Raina (ARTY), Lt Col Naveen Teotia (AAD) Maj Prateek (PUNJAB) Maj Ravi Anand (ARMD), Maj Abhinav Sharma (ASSAM), Maj Arundev Singh Jasrotia (12 JAK RIF), Capt Prajith P Varma (1 PARA SF), Capt Mahabir Singh (ENGINEERS), Capt Rupinder Singh (12 JAK RIF), Capt Manish Pant (13 DOGRA), Nb Sub Ganga Ram (1 PARA SF), Hav Rajinder Kumar (1 JAK RIF) Hav Sohan Singh (posthumously) (GRINADIERS), Hav Lal Singh Khichi (RAJ RIF), Nk Sharwan Ram (14 JAT), Nk Satish Kumar (PARA), Nk Rajesh Kumar Bahuguna (GARH RIF), Nk Vichitter Singh (DOGRA), L Nk Kuldeep Singh (posthumously) (13 SIKH) Rfn Surendra Kumar (1 JAK RIF).

Meanwhile, Maj Gen Shujan Gopal Chatterji (ARTY), Brig Raghuvinder Kapoor (4 GR), Brig Jagbir Singh Grewal (PUNJAB), Col Shalesh Rohatgi, Col Deepak Kalra (AMC) Lt Col J S Guraya (Engrs) and Sub Surjeet Singh (9 PUNJAB) were decorated with VSMs.
