25 constables dismissed for indecent behaviour

Shillong, Jan 18: Meghalaya police has arrested 25 constables for conducting indecent behaviour in public.

West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police J F Marak said the constables were arrested and terminated from their service after they had forcibly viewed porn movie in a night bus a fortnight ago.

The constables were traveling from Shillong to Tura.

Mr Marak said 12 belonged to West Garo Hills District Executive Force (DEF) and 13 were from 2nd MLP Battalion.

''We have dismissed them after they left the training camp without permission,'' he said.

Mr Marak said deserting one's post is a serious offence in the armed forces and the Apex Court endorses such dismissals.

All the 25 were booked under section 506 of IPC and cinema Act.
