Villagers hold road roko over man's death
Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, Jan 17 (UNI) Traffic on the Villupuram-Pondicherry Highway was affected for one hour this evening after some villagers held a road roko in connection with a man's death.
Police said the body of Ravikumar (30) of Salaiagaram was found near the BDO office at Polianur, about three km away.
While police said the Ravikumar died due to excessive drinking, the villagers maintained he consumed spurious liquor and wanted a proper inquiry into the sale of such brew.
They later held the protest. Police pacified the villagers after which they disbursed. Later, the body was shifted to the general hospital here for post-mortem.
