UP law and order situation chaotic:Cong

New Delhi, Jan 17 (UNI) The Congress today demanded a probe into the mysterious death of a police official who acted against the then MLA from Kunda and presently a Minister, Raghuraj Pratap Singh, better known as Raja Bhaiya, saying it was yet another incident showing complete anarchy prevailing in Uttar Pradesh as far as law and order was concerned.

The police official, Ram Shiromani Pandey, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, had received a threat to his life before he was killed in a road accident under mysterious circumstances, Congress Spokesperson Jayanti Natrajan said.

She told reporters here that the Allahabad High Court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the death of the police official who had complained to the High Court about the life threat received by him.

The High Court had ordered CBI inquiry against officials posted in Kunda when Raja Bhaiya was booked under POTA in 2003.

Condemning the incident, Ms Natrajan said the state had descended into a state of anarchy and called upon the Government to take steps to restore the confidence of the people and to protect all the citizens including those who might have initiatied action against anybody within the ruling hierarchy .

Asked about the possibility of the President's Rule in the State, she said this was a matter between the Governor and the Government.

In reply to another question, she said the party would announce its decision about the State Government on the floor of the House when it is reconvened.
