Two US soldiers killed in western Iraq
BAGHDAD, Jan 17 (Reuters) Two US soldiers have been killed in western Iraq, the US military said today.
One of the soldiers died on Monday, the other today. a US statement said, adding that they died from wounds sustained in combat in the restive western province of Anbar.
More than 3,000 U.S. soldiers have died since the start of the US invasion in March 2003, causing mounting concern among the US public about the war.
US President George W Bush said this month he planned to send an extra 21,500 US troops to Iraq to help stabilise the country, despite opinion polls showing most Americans oppose sending more troops.
