Two Bangladeshis arrested
Basirhat, Jan 17 (UNI) Police today arrested two Bangladeshis after detaining them a couple of days back when they were approaching towards the Icchamati bridge here in North 24 Parganas.
The police said both were suspected to be the members of terrorist group active in Bangladesh.
The Bangladeshi duo -- Dipu Khan alias Ali Hassan and Al Amin, both in their 20s, were arrested for alleged intrusion into Indian territory without valid travel document.
The olice, however, did not divulge any information about their alleged links with the ultras or seizing of any incriminating document from them during the interrogation by the CID, West Bengal.
Similarly, a 22-year-old Bangladeshi national Jahangir Islam was nabbed by the BSF from near Petrapol border near Bangaon whilr he was crossing the border last week and latter handed over to the police.
He was also suspected to be a member of the Jamaet-E-Islam in Bangladesh. A sub-divisional court at Bangaon yesterday remanded him to the police custody for 14 days.
The police has started the investigation about the credential of the arrested Bangladeshi nationals.
Strict vigil along the international border with Bangladesh is kept both by BSF and the police following promulgation of emergency in that country, official sources said here.
