Hyderabad, Jan 17 (UNI) The Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC) today discussed the controversial 'Pothireddypadu' head regulator height enhancement issue and believed to have arrived at a consensus that the project would not hamper the interests of the Telangana region.

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and other opposition parties were opposing the project on the ground that water due to the Telangana region would be diverted to Rayalaseema region.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy yesterday dismissed the allegation saying that it was "politically motivated".

Congress MP from Telangana V Hanumantha Rao, who came out of the meeting before it concluded, told newspersons at Gandhi Bhavan that Congress leaders from Telangana were not against supply of Krishna water to Rayalaseema.

He said he only sought a clarification from the government as to the quantum of Krishna water being apportioned to the Telangana and Rayalaseema regions.

Another Congress MLA P Janardhana Reddy, who has been openly opposing the project, is believed to have reiterated his stand.

Pradesh Congress Committee President K Keshava Rao, who presided over the meeting, said reporters that it was "unfair" for any one to talk against the project even after an expert committee gave green signal to it.

Talking openly against the project by Congress men was "highly improper", he said.

Congress MLAs P Janardhana Reddy and M Sasidhar Reddy were vehemently opposing the projects.
