Police solves robbery case, recovers gold ornaments

Srinagar, Jan 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have solved a robbery case by arresting a burglar and seizing gold ornaments and goods worth lakhs of rupees from his possession.

Burglars had struck the house of Dr Hilal Ahmed Rizvi at Umar Apartments in Raj Bagh and decamped with goods worth lakhs of rupees, they added.

Police said an FIR was registered in the Raj Bagh police station and investigations taken up.

A man-hunt was launched to nab the culprits. Services of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were also sought and a team of officials managed to pick up some footprints from the scene.

Police rounded up a suspect, identified as Shabir Ahmed War, who during questioning admitted to the crime. At his instance, gold ornaments and goods worth Rs 4.5 lakh were also seized.

The seized articles include 11 gold chains, a set of diamond earrings, eight sets of diamond pendants, a wrist watch worth Rs 60,000, 14 gold bangles and eight gold rings, police added.

UNI
