Lucknow, Jan 17 (UNI) Reacting to the charges of opposition parties, the ruling Samajwadi Party today asserted it had not paid for the ongoing mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan's TV and print campaign projecting the party.

The party said it was not aware about the funds to carry out the campaign in TV and through hoardings in which Big B is projecting the SP.

''I do not know who has funded the campaign,'' said party general secretary and state PWD minister Shivpal Singh. He said so far bills have not been raised, thus he was not aware about the money involved.

Jan Morcha leader Raj Babbar today urged the Election Commission to order a probe into the campaign.

''As per my information, Rs 5 crore is the weekly payment to different channels on which the campaign is being aired. Where from this money has come is the subject of investigation,'' he told reporters here.

Mr Babbar's assertion came a day after the Congress raked up the issue asking EC to include its expenditure in the poll budget of the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led SP.

The TV campaign in which Big B is seen highlighting the achievements of Uttar Pradesh government is being aired on various news channels.

The Jan Morcha leader sought to ask his Bollywood colleague to specify if he was the brand ambassador of UP or Samajwadi Party.
