Pakistani military rejects Indian claim of ceasefire violation
Islamabad, Jan 17 (UNI) A Pakistan army spokesman today rejected the Indian claim of ceasefire violation by Pakistani rangers along the Line of Control.
Commenting on the statement of a BSF spokesman, he called it ludicrous and fabricated.
The spokesman said the reality was totally different, adding that at about 0215 hrs on January 17, two BSF Posts located north of Najwal village fired seven illuminating rounds followed by LMG and small arms fire, which continued intermittently till 0320 hrs.
Pakistan Rangers did not fire a single shot, he said and added that these posts were located opposite village Rampura in Pukhlian area of Sialkot district.
In the morning, when Rangers inquired from the BSF about the cause of firing the previous night, the BSF informed that they had suspected some movement, he maintained.
Pakistan Rangers, he said, had asked for a Wing Commander level meeting to conduct an enquiry into the incident.
He said this was not the first time that the BSF had resorted to firing at the international border.
