Jammu: Pakistan Rangers violate ceasefire

Jammu, Jan 17: Two BSF jawans and a sub-inspector were seriously injured in exchange of fire between BSF personnel and Pakistani rangers at Pargwal in Akhnoor sector yesterday, sources today said.

According to BSF sources, Pakistani rangers started firing at 1440 hours to provide cover to a group of about a dozen militants who were trying to infiltrate into Indian territory.

In retailation, the BSF personnel fired and in the exchange of fire which continued till 1515 hours, jawans Avinash Chandra and Hridesh Kumar and a sub inspector were seriously injured. They were hospitalised in army hospital, Jammu.

Later BSF IG S P Vaid rushed to 16 corps headquarter to brief army officers about the incident.

Pakistani rangers have allegedly violated the ceasefire declared on January 26, 2004.
