One burnt alive another injured in major fire

Mumbai, Jan 17 (UNI) One person was burnt to death and another injured in a major fire, which engulfed more than 150 slums at Phule Nagar slum area at Powai in eastern suburbs late last night.

The fire brigade sources said a person was burnt alive, while another has suffered 50 to 60 per cent burn injuries in the fire that broke out at 2145 hrs yesterday at Phule Nagar, slum area. More than 150 huts were completely destroyed in the fire, sources said.

Age, gender and information of the deceased cannot be identified till this morning, sources said.

The cause of the fire and damages are yet to be ascertained, sources added.
