Notice to BJP Candidate for breaking poll code

Ferozepur, Jan 17 (UNI) Local authorities today served a notice to BJP Candidate S Sukhpal Singh Nanu for organising a rally yesterday in defiance of the election code of conduct.

SDM and Returning Officer Kamal Kishore Yadav served the notice on Mr Nanu as it is incumbent on the part of a candidate to obtain prior sanction for such a rally and its route from the local poll authorities.

Mr Yadav told UNI that the BJP candidate had been found guilty of defying the Election Code of Conduct and had been asked to submit an explanation.

The authorities came to know about the BJP candidate's rally, consisting of about 600 vehicles, when it had already covered half of the distance in the city.

The SDM immediately ordered dispersal of the unauthorised rally though a large crowd had gathered till then.
